Vernon County is submitting an application for the Rural Housing Preservation Grant Program released by the Rural Housing Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The purpose of this program is to make funding available to sponsor organizations in the repair or rehabilitation of housing owned or occupied by very low and low income rural citizens. Vernon County intends to apply for $150,000 and, if received, will select up to 15 properties for septic system replacement. If awarded, the County will release a request for applications from eligible residents. Any comments can be submitted by July 8^th to:
