Position Summary

This is a clerical position in the Circuit Court system performing confidential advanced secretarial and administrative duties for the Circuit Court Judge, Family Court Commissioner and Director of Vernon County Family Counselling Services.  Employee must be able to perform all duties of the Register in Probate and Juvenile Clerk as prescribed in State Statutes and act in full capacity.  Employee in this class works under minimal supervision in duties relating to Circuit Court System.  Supervision is provided by the Judge, Family Court Commissioner and Register in Probate.  Employee in this position maintains confidentiality while consistently exercising independent judgment and discretion in responsibilities of administration, inventory, planning and implementation of the Register in Probate, Family Court Commissioner, Director of Vernon County Family Counselling Services and Judge’s offices when assigned.  Employee may act in an official capacity in the absence of the Register in Probate.

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED. Preference for Vocation/Associate degree in legal assistant, paralegal or other related field.  Experience working in the legal field and/or office management required. Competency in advanced word processing, computer skills; experience working with various socio-economic levels of public.  In evaluating candidates for this position, the County may consider a combination of education, experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
