Home Departments Land and Water Conservation Flood Control Structures Warning System

Vernon County installed a High Water Warning System including 9 rain gauges and 9 flood pool monitors in 2009 through a FEMA hazard mitigation grant.  The station above shows the standpipe and radio transmission antenna with a tipping bucket rain gauge approved by the National Weather Service.

These gauges radio transmit rainfall and pool depth data back to Vernon County during storm events.  The data is transferred in real time showing how dams are being affected in different areas within the county.   The website below can be used for all to view the data http://datawise.ws/vernon/dwmaps/
