The photos above show the round bales and debris that plugged the principle spillway inlet. Over 116 round bales washed into the flood pool. Inmates from the Prairie Du Chien Prison assisted in the cleanup.
The photo on the left shows the damage to the auxiliary spillway due to the increased flow from the plug.
The photo on the left shows the grouting operation that was started in 2009 and finished in 2010. A grout curtain was installed beneath the left side of the dam in an effort to strengthen and secure the fractured sandstone bedrock.
The photos below show the excavation and install of a graded relief drain designed to safely transfer any water that gets through the grout curtain away from the dam. The repairs were completed in 2010 for a total of $571,524.31.00
