Adults-At-Risk
Adults-At-Risk as defined in Wisconsin Statute 55.043(le), means any adult who has a physical or mental condition that substantially impairs his or her ability to care for his or her needs and who has experienced, is currently experiencing, or is at risk of experiencing abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or financial exploitation. This would apply for individuals age 18-59.
Vernon County Department of Human Services is the designated agency for Vernon County for planning and carrying out the county’s protective services responsibility. Staff from Vernon County Department of Human Services receives the referrals for possible abuse or neglect, complete an investigation to determine if the abuse or neglect can be substantiated and then provide or arrange for any needed services.
