VERNON COUNTY SOBRIETY COURT PROGRAM


Dear Prospective Sobriety Court participant:

The mission of Vernon County's Sobriety Court Program is to promote community safety by reducing recidivism in OWl offenders through increased treatment and immediate responses to both positive and negative actions of the participants, while also holding participants accountable for their behaviors.

Vernon County's Sobriety Court Program is a 14 month Treatment Court Program designed for individuals who have been convicted of Operating While Intoxicated through 6'" offense. The length of the program may be extended if necessary,to ensure successful completion. Participants will be placed on supervision with the Department of Corrections for at least 2 years.The program consists of 5 phases:


PHASE 1 (60 days), and PHASE 2 (90 days)

  1. Attend Sobriety Court Review Hearings every other Monday at 3:30pm.
  2. Attend Sobriety Court Treatment Group Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.

PHASE 3 (90 days)

  1. Attend Sobriety Court Review Hearings one Monday per month.
  2. Attend Sobriety Court Treatment Group one night per week.
  3. Complete 2 sober self-help activities weekly.
  4. Obtain a mentor/sponsor.

PHASE 4 (90 days)

  1. Attend Sobriety Court Review Hearings one Monday per month.
  2. Attend Sobriety Court Treatment Group twice monthly.
  3. Complete 3 sober self-help activities weekly.

PHASE 5 (90 days)

  1. Attend Sobriety Court Review Hearings one Monday per month.
  2. Attend Sobriety Court Treatment Group once monthly.
  3. Follow the recommendations of established Aftercare Plan.

Throughout the Sobriety Court Program, all participants undergo random alcohol and drug testing, and attend individual counseling as determined by their Driver's Safety Plan Assessment. Participants who successfully complete the Sobriety Court Program receive reduced fines and jail sentences.
