Courthouse weddings will be scheduled for any week day during normal courthouse hours; however, noon is the preferred time. Weddings will not be scheduled on a day set aside for a jury trial or intake days without the express approval of the judge.
When scheduling a courthouse wedding, you must provide your names and a telephone number where you can be reached during the day. You will also need to determine whether you will be bringing two adult witnesses with you or whether courthouse personnel will serve as witnesses.
On the day of the wedding, please report to the Register in Probate’s office at least 15 minutes prior to the ceremony. The marriage license will need to be received by the judicial assistant the day prior to the ceremony. If the parties wish to cancel the wedding, they are to notify the judicial assistant well in advance. The court’s calendar is very full, and prior notice of cancellation is well appreciated.
No fee is charged and no fee will be accepted for performing a courthouse wedding.
