Screenings range from Stroke, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and a variety of
others. These screenings are offered at a minimal, if any, cost.

Vernon County Health Department offers
immunization clinics for influenza, tetanus, and pneumonia. They also provide
health supervision visits that include blood pressure checks, medication
monitoring, foot care, communicable disease follow-up and education.
Wisconsin Well Woman Program offers comprehensive breast, cervical and health
screenings for women age 35-64 free to those eligible.

A fun way for healthy and independent seniors age
65 and older to participate in a safe exercise program. A physician’s referral is required before you can begin the
program. Staff at the fitness center will show you how to use the
equipment and create a fitness program to suit your needs! There is a
one-time enrollment fee, and a small fee each time you use the facilities.
Aquatic Program & Golden Splash
Water exercise classes including some designed
for those people with arthritis to help strengthen muscles surrounding joints
and relieve arthritis pains while exercising. Other classes are just a

UW-Extension. There are two exciting programs to choose from: “Strong Women”,
targeted for staying slim, vibrant aging, and strong bones and “Growing Stronger”, a strength training program for older adults.
Home Health Care nurses provide health care at
your home. They can administer IV therapy, maintain & replace
catheters, deliver special medical treatments ordered by your health care
provider, teach diabetic management and monitoring, how to use oxygen safely,
wound and ostomy care, pain management, and how to manage your
medication. Nurses work closely with your medical provider to develop the

Medicare Part D is a prescription drug program
that provides additional coverage to your current Medicare plan. All
seniors need to enroll to receive the benefits associated with the new
program.

In cooperation with physicians, as a service to
assist patients who have difficulty purchasing prescription drugs, sponsors
have come together to provide prescription drugs at no cost. These
programs provide prescription medicine free-of-charge to individuals,
regardless of age, if they meet the sponsor’s
requirements. Upon approval, your medication will be sent to your doctor
and he/she will dispense it to you.

Medicaid
Medicaid is a program that pays for medical
assistance for certain individuals and families with low income and
resources. This program became law in1965 and is jointly funded by
Federal and State governments to assist states in providing long term care
assistance to people who meet certain eligibility criteria. Medicaid is the
largest source of funding for medical & health-related services for people
with limited income.
