Originally named Bad Axe, Vernon County was formed in 1851 from Richland and Crawford Counties. The name was changed to Vernon County in 1862.

Mission of the Aging Unit

The purpose of the Vernon County Unit on Aging shall be to assure that older people have the opportunity to realize their full potential by having access to and participating in all areas of community life to the greatest extent possible.
