The Vernon County Unit on Aging provides the Senior Nutrition Program to persons age sixty and older and spouses of an active senior dining participant regardless of age. Four days a week participants can gather at one of the 10 mealsites in Vernon County for a nutritious meal that has been approved by a registered dietitian to meet 1/3 of the recommended daily dietary needs. The mealsites provide “more than just a meal” in that they are community centers for diners to gather in a warm, family-like atmosphere to gain news, socialization and friendship. Donations are accepted to assist in funding this program. The suggested donation is $3.50 per meal. No one will be denied a meal regardless of ability to pay.

A registered dietitian approves all meals and is available to provide guidance to seniors on nutrition and health issues.
