Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Once after Welcome to Medicare initial exam if at risk
Annual Wellness Visit Every 12 months if more than 12 months after Welcome to Medicare
Bone Mass Measurement Once every 24 months (unless medically necessary)
Cardiovascular Screenings Every 5 years if no apparent symptoms
Fecal Occult Blood Test Every 12 months if 50+
Flexible Sigmoidoscopy 48 months or 120 months after previous screening if not at risk and 50+
Colonoscopy 120 months (or 24 months if high risk)
Barium Enema * 48 months (or 24 months if high risk) if used instead of a colonoscopy
Diabetes Screenings 12 months (6months if pre-diabetic)
Diabetes Self-management Training * With MD order or referral
Flu Shots -- with H1N1 this year

Best each year in Oct. or Nov., may bea co-pay in some Medicare Advantage Plans

Glaucoma Tests Every 12 months if at high risk (eg. diabetic or family history)
Hepatitis B Shots If medium or high risk, 3 injections
Mammogram (screening) Once a year after age 40
Medical Nutrition Therapy Services * With MD referral (3 hrs. counseling first year)
Pap Test & Pelvic Exam (with breast exam) 24 months (or 12 months if high risk)
Physical Exam - "Welcome to Medicare" Within 12 months on Medicare B
Pneumococcal Shot Usually once -- more if MD approves
Prostrate Cancer Screenings (Digital Rectal Exam* and PSA Test) Digital Rectal Exam: and free PSA Test every 12 months for men over 50
Shingles Vaccine (Herpe's Zoster)** Once - May need to bring from pharmacy to get cheapest cost because covered by Part D
Smoking Cessation * (counseling) 8 visits in a 12 month period

 

* Will be charged the Part B deductible &/or 20% of doctor's visit.

** Covered under Part D and not often in doctor's office because they are not Part D Plan network providers. You can seek to be reimbursed by submitting to your Part D plan.
